Workshop: Writing Policy Briefs That Get Read
A practical one day workshop for researchers, students and civil society professionals on turning research into short, persuasive briefs for decision makers.
Good research often fails to influence policy because it is not written for the people who make decisions. This workshop teaches the craft of the policy brief: choosing the question, putting the conclusion first, presenting evidence clearly and making recommendations that are specific and feasible.
You will
- analyse examples of effective and ineffective briefs
- learn a simple structure that works for most briefs
- draft a brief on a topic of your choice
- receive feedback from the facilitator and other participants
Participants should bring a laptop and a topic, ideally based on their own research or work.
