Intergenerational Dialogue on Migration
Students planning to migrate and parents and grandparents who migrated to the Gulf talked about what migration has given and taken from Kerala families.
This dialogue brought together two generations with very different experiences of migration: older Malayalis who worked in the Gulf, and students planning to study or work abroad. Participants discussed what migration had meant for their families, what they had gained and lost, and what they hoped for.
A summary of the conversation informed CRGD’s work on return migration and youth aspirations.
